Emily Deaver - Miss Augusta 2008

Emily describes herself as a free spirit. Certainly she has taken some non-traditional roles, playing on the boys’ varsity soccer team at Augusta High School and singing the tenor part in the a cappella choir at Wichita State University. She teaches piano, conducts a jazz band, coaches Little League soccer and works in marketing and public relations and performs for Heart of Art in Wichita. She composed and conducted her own musical arrangement for the WSU Jazz Festival. She hopes to attain a PhD in composition, lead a jazz group, compose and teach.

Jennifer Jones - Miss Butler County 2008

A senior atmospheric science major, Jennifer Jones is a storm chaser during severe weather season. Her ambition is to become chief meteorologist on the FOX News Network in New York City.

A more immediate goal is to educate the public on child abuse and prevention. She has created an interactive website where children can learn about personal safety and has worked with Child Abuse Prevention Service in Salina for 10 years and for the past year at Sunflower House of Shawnee.

She is a featured twirler for the Marching Jayhawks.
